Colombo Marathon 2026

The Colombo Marathon 2026 is held on Sunday 13 September 2026 under the theme "Steps for Peace and Humanity", organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports with technical support from Sri Lanka Athletics and affiliated to AIMS.

All four published categories start at 6:00 AM: the Full Marathon (42.195 km, cut-off 4h30, 18+), Half Marathon (21.0975 km, cut-off 3h30, 18+), 10 km Run (cut-off 2h30, 16+) and 5 km Fun Run (cut-off 1h15, 15+). A 1.5 km Kids Run is also promoted, but the organiser has not published a start time for it. Every cut-off runs from the moment the last participant crosses the start line, not from the gun.

Bib collection is on Saturday 12 September 2026, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Torrington Ground, Colombo 7. Bring your registration details and photo ID; Sri Lankan runners must also bring the original medical report submitted at registration. Collection is in person only and late collection is not permitted. Fun Run groups are excluded.

The course starts and finishes at the entrance to Marine Drive at the Galle Face end, and runs the coastal corridor south through Bambalapitiya and Wellawatte to Dehiwala. There are two turning points: one around Bambalapitiya, and one in front of the Dehiwala Post Office. The half marathon is one loop of that circuit and the full marathon is two. The course was measured by A.A. Udaya Priyanga Rupasri, World Athletics Road Measurement Course (2022), on 5 July 2026.

If you are not running: the Galle Face to Dehiwala coastal corridor is in use from the 6:00 AM start, and the marathon covers it twice, so allow extra time for any journey along that stretch on Sunday morning. The organiser has not published a road closure schedule or entry fees. Total prize pool is LKR 12,830,000.
