In Polonnaruwa, the steps to this specific ruin are tiny. What is the reason.

The stairways at the Lankatilaka Temple in Polonnaruwa feature steps that are only 10 centimeters wide. This unique design forces worshippers to climb down sideways, making it impossible to turn their back towards the giant Buddha statue, which is considered highly disrespectful in Buddhism.
