Kabalana beach has a great beginner section right on the beach break where the water is shallow and the whitewash is perfect for absolute beginners taking lessons.

If you have very young kids who just want to paddle, taking a short tuk tuk ride to the protected bay at Dalawella beach is a much safer swimming option.

However, the main point break called The Rock is strictly for advanced surfers and the waves there are too powerful for children to swim safely nearby.
