Trying to convince myself it's worth doing. Direct flight 3.5 hours. But 5 days seems short.

5 days is enough for a taste but not enough to relax. Realistic itinerary: Day 1 arrive CMB, drive to Sigiriya (3.5 hours). Day 2 climb Sigiriya + Dambulla caves. Day 3 to Kandy, Temple of Tooth. Day 4 train Kandy to Ella (scenic day). Day 5 Ella morning + drive back to CMB for departure. Skips beaches entirely. Feels like a business trip's efficiency, not a vacation's rest. If you'd rather actually relax: skip inland, do 5 days at south coast (Bentota or Mirissa).

^ solid picks. Alternatively: fly CMB, straight to Galle Fort (2 hours), do 4 nights on the south coast, back to CMB. Total downtime, no rushed inland trip. Legitimate vacation. Sri Lanka in 5 days works if you pick ONE region.
