Saturday 22 Aug, Kandy, last Kumbal before Randoli. Listed 6:28 PM. We are toddler whose home bedtime is half-seven. Pin in mind: the tiled shade opposite the old palace wing. Whip-crackers too close for a four-year-old. Street if we can. No municipal ticket I will invent. Water already in the bag.

5th Kumbal table 6:28 PM on Saturday 22 Aug is when they start leaving the Maligawa, not when the tusker fills the pin. Drums first, dancers, then the heavy bit. Do not invent a closure on the animals; take a step back if you need air. No touching, no feeding, no selfie stick over the line. From the tiled shade opposite the old palace wing, two people back still sees the shape. Return bend is when people get stupid — peel before. Kumbal is a real night, not a failed Randoli. Saturday 22 Aug is the last Kumbal; Randoli nights follow after this.

Locals stay where they can stand. Pride argues with a pole and then buys a plaster.

We peeled before the return. The crush after the last drummers is when people get stupid. Named the fare.
