Can I pay with US dollars at local restaurants?

I have not exchanged my cash yet. Will small restaurants in Unawatuna accept US dollar bills.

Some larger tourist restaurants might accept USD, but they will give you a terrible exchange rate. Small local places only accept Sri Lankan Rupees. Use an ATM or money changer first.
