Best places to see wild elephants in Sri Lanka.

If seeing massive herds of wild elephants is your main priority, Udawalawe National Park is arguably the best and most reliable spot in Sri Lanka. The landscape is very open, and sightings are virtually guaranteed year round. Another incredible location is Minneriya National Park, famous for The Gathering between July and October, where hundreds of elephants congregate around the central reservoir. Finally, driving along the Buttala to Kataragama road frequently yields sightings of wild elephants standing right next to the tarmac.
