Yes. Stick to the roads, use a driver who knows the north roads, and do not walk into scrub for a photo. That is the whole lived caution. No dune tracks, no 'the map shows a path'. Elephant Pass is a look from the road. If a driver offers a shortcut that leaves tarmac, say no. Ordinary bags stay in the vehicle at photo stops.
Our driver said tarmac only. We listened. The photo from the window was enough.
Someone in a cafe mentioned leftover caution the same way: roads, known driver, no hero walks.
