AC remote is broken and the room froze us overnight — ask for a fan room or somehow fix the setting?

Coast hotel. Remote buttons dead, AC stuck blasting cold. Extra blankets still left us shivering. Desk said maintenance in the morning. Different from hill-country inverter power cuts — power is fine, control is not. Do travelers usually demand a room move at night, a spare remote, or tough it out with the window open?

Call the desk once: spare remote, wall thermostat if any, or a move to a fan-cooled room. Leaving ice-blast on all night with a dead remote is a maintenance fail, not a guest endurance test. Opening a window only helps if humidity and mosquitoes allow. Photograph the remote and the set temperature if displayed. I will not invent a compensation tariff — ask calmly for sleep you can use tonight.

Desk brought a spare remote that still failed, then moved us to a fan room free. Slept.

Messaged for a move. Packing a small travel remote battery pack was useless — unit needed a different controller.
