Airline lost my dive gear. Options for rental in Colombo?
3 Answers from travellers
Colombo Dive Center and Aqualanka in Colombo rent gear (BCD, regulator, mask, fins, wetsuit). Quality varies - inspect carefully. Also Trincomalee dive shops rent gear (Aqua Adventures, Trinco Blue). Better bet: rent in Trincomalee where dive shops are set up for regular tourist rental (Colombo is city rental, less common). Cost: complete kit ~3000-5000 LKR per day. Have your dive certification ready. Airline claim: file at Colombo airport before leaving - they'll deliver to your Trincomalee hotel or reimburse rental costs (up to policy limit). Save receipts.
^ this. Also: airlines often deliver lost bags within 3-5 days. Rent short-term Trincomalee. Also possible: swap gear with fellow divers if you connect at your dive resort. Community there is helpful. Bad luck but very fixable.
