2 Sep, Unawatuna, ordinary bags, one toddler already knee-deep. Marine Amber expired 11:30 this morning. Yellow pole still on the main posts. Beach bar says the flag is only for insurance now that Amber is off. Heat caution is still on my phone. I want a local, not a cocktail.

Amber off the Met board at 11:30 does not rewrite the pole. Yellow still means pay attention. Leftover SW on this bay is ordinary in early September. Shallows with a toddler can still dump a kid. Stay where you can stand, no inflatables past the first break. Heat caution is still valid — sit shade between dips. The bar does not write flags. I will not quote a colour as if Amber were still up. It is off. The sea is still the sea.
We kept the kid knee-deep and sat under a thatch. Fine. The bar wanted a second lime more than a safe bay.
Locals swim inside the poles. Pride argues with a cancelled warning and then buys a plaster.
Heat is the real noon story. Water, hat, sit. The pole is leftover caution, not a closed beach.
