Ambuluwawa Tower (Gampola, 30 min south of Kandy) is a unique modern spiral concrete tower atop a hill featuring Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic and Christian shrines — designed as a multi-religious harmony monument. 48m tall with a genuinely vertiginous narrow spiral outer stair to the top (not for anyone afraid of heights).

Foreign entry 700 LKR. Views over central hill country are 360° spectacular. Not truly historic — a 20th century structure — but interesting concept and photo-worthy. Best clear morning (8-10am) before mist. Skip if strong vertigo — the narrow spiral has no cage.
