Angammedilla National Park (near Polonnaruwa) is a small underrated park focused on the Parakrama Samudra reservoir catchment — elephants, water birds, deer, and rare purple-faced langur populations. Half-day sufficient. Zero tourist infrastructure but a genuine hidden gem for wildlife photographers.

Access via Polonnaruwa town. Combine with Polonnaruwa ancient city visit — different vibe on the same day. Not a leopard-and-jeep-tourism park; more nature reserve feel. Ask Polonnaruwa guest houses for a jeep-safari referral.
