Will we have trouble finding cash machines in smaller towns like Ella or Mirissa. What are the standard withdrawal fees.

ATMs are widely available in Sri Lanka tourist areas like Ella, Mirissa, and Kandy. You will have no trouble finding cash machines operated by major banks like BOC or Commercial Bank. Expect a standard local withdrawal fee of around two to three dollars per transaction.
