Are ride-hailing apps available and reliable, or should I stick with traditional tuk-tuks?
I prefer using apps for transparency. Are ride-hailing apps common and reliable in Sri Lanka?

Ride-hailing apps exist but coverage and reliability vary significantly by location. In Colombo and some larger towns, apps like PickMe are available and can be convenient for price transparency and tracking. However, in many tourist areas and smaller towns, traditional tuk-tuks are more readily available and often the only option. App availability doesn't always mean cars or tuk-tuks will come quickly, especially during peak times or in less-served areas. Many travelers use a combination — apps where available, and hotel-recommended or street tuk-tuks elsewhere. Traditional drivers are still the backbone of local transport in most places. Having both options gives flexibility.
