I am terrified of sharks and jellyfish. Is the ocean safe for scuba divers.

The diving environment in Sri Lanka is incredibly safe regarding marine predators. Highly dangerous great white sharks are completely non existent in these warm tropical waters. You will frequently encounter blacktip reef sharks but they are small extremely skittish and completely harmless to humans. They will swim away rapidly if you approach them. The only minor concern is brushing against a stinging fire coral or encountering small harmless jellyfish during certain seasonal currents. Your instructor will advise you to wear a full length rash guard which provides perfect complete protection against any minor stings.
