Because Dambadeniya is not a major international tourist hub like Sigiriya, finding official licensed guides waiting at the gate is rare. However, the local caretakers or monks at the nearby Vijayasundararamaya temple are extremely knowledgeable and will often happily share the rich medieval history of the palace ruins with respectful visitors.
