Crocodile Rock is a scenic inselberg and beginner surf break located 4km south of Arugam Bay. To reach the base, travelers walk along the beach and cross an estuary lagoon connected to the Pottuvil wetland. The lagoon supports a healthy breeding population of wild Mugger Crocodiles (Crocodylus palustris). Travelers should NEVER wade across deep or murky lagoon water sections; cross strictly at the shallow sandbar beach berm where waves break over the bar mouth. Climb the rocky boulder path on the sea-facing side to enjoy sunset views over elephant grasslands.
