I am an advanced surfer visiting Arugam Bay. I hear Main Point is heavily localized. How do I actually catch a wave without getting burned by the local crew.

Main Point is dominated by a tight crew of incredibly talented local surfers. The key is respect. Do NOT paddle straight to the peak on day one. Sit on the shoulder. Give away a few sets. Smile and say "Machan" (brother). Once they see you are respectful and know what you are doing, they will start calling you into waves. If you drop in on them, you will be sent to the beach.

Yes, Peanut Farm and Elephant Rock are great alternatives and usually have a mellower vibe.

Whisky point is also super fun for longboarding.

Honestly, the tourist beginners are worse than the locals. Foam boards flying everywhere.

Fights in the water do happen. Keep your ego on the sand.

Makes sense. Are there other points nearby that are less crowded.
