Pottuvil Point is the northernmost surf break in the Arugam Bay cluster, offering one of the longest right-hand point break waves in Sri Lanka. Situated past a serene lagoon and sand dune stretch, it catches southeast groundswells and peels over a sand-covered reef shelf for up to 800 meters when firing at overhead sizes. The paddle out requires navigating a wide bay channel, but the reward is endless wall sections that challenge longboarders and shortboarders alike.
Pottuvil Point remains significantly less crowded than Main Point, making it a favorite for surfers seeking open shoulders and fewer drop-ins.
Wild elephants occasionally wander down the sand dunes near the point at dawn; maintain a respectful distance from shore animals.
