Village cricket in Sri Lanka is a Sunday-morning institution — happens on any open field, road, or beach in Sri Lanka. Just wander through a village on a weekend morning; you'll find a game. Joining in as a foreigner is warmly welcomed — walk up, ask 'can I play?' — expect to be handed a bat or asked to field.

Bring a small gift of soft drinks or biscuits if invited. Skill level ranges from social to serious. Match may go 3-5 hours, culminating in shared tea and short eats. Some of the warmest experiences of a Sri Lanka trip. Standard rules, tennis-ball or leather-ball games.
