Regional. Southwest monsoon (May-Sep) means: south and west coasts get rain (heavy afternoon showers, not all-day rain typically). East and north coasts are DRY (Trincomalee peak season, Arugam Bay peak surf, Jaffna dry). Hill country is variable but often clear mornings. Practical strategy for June: do east coast (Trincomalee 3-4 nights, Passikudah 2 nights), hill country (Kandy + Ella), cultural triangle (dry inland). SKIP south coast beaches in June. Or embrace it - south coast gets 40-60% off in June, resorts empty, cheaper luxury.
^ this. East coast in June is glorious. Nilaveli, Uppuveli, Passikudah - stunning weather. If you were planning Mirissa in June, switch to Trincomalee. Same tropical beach experience, opposite coast, actually the right season.
