I want to do a real Ayurvedic detox in Sri Lanka. Do authentic retreats actually restrict your diet, or do they just serve normal hotel buffets.

An authentic Ayurvedic Panchakarma center will strictly control your diet. A certified doctor will check your dosha (body constitution) and prescribe a specific, often very plain diet (like Kola Kenda porridge, boiled vegetables, and herbal teas) to cleanse your system. No alcohol, no meat, no heavy spices. If a place offers Ayurveda but serves you a standard spicy hotel buffet with beers, it is a tourist spa.

That is exactly what I want. Any recommendations for registered centers.

Make sure you are mentally prepared. Real Ayurveda focuses on medical healing, not luxury pampering.

Barberyn Reef in Weligama or Santani in Kandy are highly respected, authentic medical centers.

The authentic diet is very intense. I lost 3 kilos in a week just from the clean eating.
