Nanu Oya is the rail town; Nuwara Eliya is a further hop. Jumpers, extra blanket, seated later. Badulla is the rail end, not a must-sit In Badulla, the stand in Badulla, water before you sit, agree a number if there is no meter. Then tea, then the room.
We dumped bags at Nanu Oya thinking it was Nuwara Eliya. It is not. Badulla: jumper, then the hop. An elder changes the trade.
Extra blanket at the desk is ordinary. Observation-car rumours do not beat a reserved ordinary seat. Mist is a wall; skip the viewpoint tax. Shoes you can stand in, not the pretty pair.
