Official Sri Lanka Airport porters wear uniforms with badges — pay via posted rates (typically 300-600 LKR per bag). Non-uniformed 'helpers' at arrivals are unofficial — negotiate before accepting help. Tip appreciated but not mandatory beyond official rate.

For very heavy luggage or multiple bags, official porters are worthwhile — carts also freely available. Do not let anyone take your bags away from you at any point. Best to walk out yourself with a cart if you're mobile.
