Want to day-trip light with bags stored at Colombo Fort or Kandy station. Does cloakroom or left-luggage still work in practice for a same-day pickup, and what should we ask before we lock a bag.

Ask on arrival about left-luggage hours and same-day pickup cutoff. Do not assume late-evening reclaim if staff shifts change.

Keep tickets and valuables on you. Cloakrooms are for clothes and bulk, not passports and laptops.

If the station desk is closed, some nearby hotels store bags for a fee when you eat or drink there — confirm before you wander.
