Yes worth 2 nights on a longer east coast circuit. Highlights: Batticaloa Lagoon at sunset (fishing catamarans and the famous 'singing fish' phenomenon on full moon nights near Kallady Bridge), the old Dutch Fort and Kallady lighthouse, Passikudah beach 30 min north, and authentic Tamil-east coast food unlike anywhere else. Vibe is quieter and more local than Trinco.

Must-try food: KOOL (Batti's signature seafood broth with crab, prawns, cuttlefish in tamarind-and-jackfruit-seed base), crab curry with jackfruit, and dosai-style breakfasts. Sea Star restaurant near the lagoon is a local favourite.
