Beautiful sunset spots that are less crowded than the famous ones?

Many smaller beaches, viewpoints, and even hotel or guesthouse rooftops offer lovely sunsets with far fewer people. South of the main tourist beaches, or on the east coast, you can often have entire stretches of sand to yourself at sunset. Some inland viewpoints and reservoir areas also have beautiful sunset views with almost no one around. Asking locally for 'quiet sunset spots' near where you're staying usually yields good suggestions. The famous spots are famous for a reason, but the country has many alternatives if you ask.
