Sri Lanka has small-scale beekeeping tradition — both wild honey (from Meli bee, tiny stingless bees making rich honey in trees) and Apis cerana indica hives. Village beekeepers welcome respectful visitors. Some tea estates run bee gardens for pollination.

Best places to see: contact Palm Foundation (educational NGO), or ask at rural homestays. Wild honey collection often happens at dawn using smoke to calm bees. Traditional beekeepers welcome curious tourists. Buy honey direct — kithul honey is a Sri Lankan specialty.
