Beragala Pass (on A4 highway between Wellawaya and Beragala/Haputale) climbs 800m through switchbacks with spectacular southern lowland views. Multiple pullouts on the ascent for photos of the plains stretching to the coast. Best 2-4pm for lighting and less mist.

Combine with nearby Diyaluma Falls, Bambarakanda Falls, and Ella Rock viewpoint drives for a full southern hillcountry loop. Drive carefully — locals overtake aggressively on switchbacks. Some pullouts have tea/fruit vendors — a nice pause.
