Options within 1-hour drive from Ella: (1) Diyaluma Falls (Sri Lanka's 2nd tallest, natural infinity pools at top - hike 90min from base). (2) Lipton's Seat (Haputale - Thomas Lipton's favorite viewpoint over tea estates, breathtaking). (3) Ravana Falls (10 min, quick photo stop). (4) Little Adam's Peak sunrise (30-min moderate walk from Ella - most people do this). (5) Ella Rock (harder hike, half-day). (6) Buduruwagala (ancient rock-carved Buddha statues, 45 min - underrated). Diyaluma + Lipton's Seat combined is a full day worth doing.
Diyaluma Falls infinity pool at the top is the gem - moderate hike but rewarded by rock pools you can swim in with views. Start early (7am) to avoid crowds. Combine with Lipton's Seat for sunset - two of Sri Lanka's best highland experiences in one day.
