Trincomalee diving season March-September (peak May-Aug). Sea calm, visibility 15-25m. Top sites: HMS Hermes wreck (WWII aircraft carrier, technical/advanced only, 55m depth), British Sergeant wreck (recreational, 30m), Swami Rock reef, Pigeon Island (snorkel + shallow dive, blacktip reef sharks, sea turtles). Operators: Poseidon Diving Station, Dive Lanka Trincomalee. USD 40-70 per single dive, discovery dives ~$80.

Also Pigeon Island is 20 min boat from Nilaveli - great for combining with a beach stay. Snorkel there even without diving cert. Turtles and blacktip reef sharks visible from surface most days.
