Watalappam is a traditional Sri Lankan Malay/Muslim dessert made of thick coconut milk, dark kithul jaggery, eggs, and cardamom. The best places to get it are Muslim-owned restaurants in Colombo (like Upali's, or any busy Biryani spot in Pettah).

It is super rich and sweet. During the Eid festival, local Muslim families make the absolute best homemade versions. If you make local friends, ask them!
