Best places to base for a full month of slow travel with good balance of things to do?
I want to stay in one place for a month. Which locations offer the best mix for longer stays?

Galle Fort / Unawatuna area offers culture, beach, food, and services in a walkable or short-tuk-tuk radius. Ella provides a relaxed hill country base with good cafes, walks, and train access for day trips. Ahangama or Weligama works well for a surf/beach lifestyle with co-working options. Some people split time between south coast and hill country. The ideal base has walkability or easy transport, a mix of cafes/restaurants, some cultural or natural interest, and a community feel without being overwhelming. Many long-stay visitors end up in places that feel like a temporary home rather than a tourist destination.
The best long-stay bases are places where you can settle into a routine — regular cafe, walking routes, local contacts. Galle Fort and Ella both work well for many people.
Galle Fort or Ella for a month sounds ideal. Will choose based on whether I want beach or hills more.
