The heat is intense. Any spots that stay naturally cool during the day?

Higher elevations in the hill country (Ella, Nuwara Eliya, Haputale) are significantly cooler. Some older colonial buildings and temples with thick stone walls stay naturally cool inside. Certain beaches with strong sea breezes or shaded areas under large trees can feel cooler. Many people plan indoor or shaded activities (museums, temples, cafes with AC or fans, shopping) during the hottest part of the day (11am-3pm) and do outdoor things early morning or late afternoon. Some guesthouses in hot areas have good cross-ventilation or fans that make a big difference.

The old stone buildings in Galle Fort and some temples stay surprisingly cool inside even on hot days. Good places to rest during peak heat.
