Best rooftop bar in Galle Fort for sunset that is not full of cruise ship people

Three solid picks. (1) Living Room rooftop at Galle Fort Hotel - elegant, expensive cocktails, dress decent, but a calm crowd and unbeatable view over the southern ramparts to the lighthouse. (2) The rooftop at The Bartizan / Tea Garden Restaurant - mid-range, more local-traveler mix, sea breeze and an excellent sunset angle, less photographed. (3) For a different style, the Pedlar Inn Cafe terrace - not strictly rooftop but a lovely first-floor verandah on a quiet lane, cocktails and good food. WHICH TO SKIP for the cruise-group crowd: the big rooftop above one of the Fort Hotel chain restaurants gets coach-tour reservations on cruise days. Best move: combine a 5pm rampart walk (free) ending at Flag Rock and the lighthouse, then settle into one of the above at 6 to watch the actual sunset over a glass.
On cruise-ship days the entire fort fills up between 11am and 4pm and empties by 5:30pm; the magic hour after they leave is golden. Plan dinner inside the fort.
For a truly quiet sunset, just walk to the southwest rampart near the Clock Tower with a beer from a small shop. Locals do this. Free and stunning.
