My top 5: (1) Pidurangala Rock (Sigiriya at sunrise — the classic), (2) Adam's Peak summit (spiritual + spectacular), (3) Little Adam's Peak (Ella, gentle climb, tea country golden light), (4) Lipton's Seat Haputale (mountain-into-plains sunrise), (5) Mihintale summit (temple + sunrise combined). Runners-up: Kudimbigala rock, Yala Block 1 gate at first light.
Each requires: pre-dawn arrival (5-5:30am start), headtorch, cushion for wait, patience. Weather variable — cloudy days ruin the golden hour. Book multiple days if flexible; hit a top spot on the clear day. Landscape orientation for grand views, portrait for silhouettes.
