Traditional village blacksmiths (kollupitiya cast iron) still work in rural villages across Sri Lanka. Not commercialized — best encountered by visiting villages via a knowledgeable local guide or homestay. Kandy district has more preserved traditional smithing than most.

Best experience: arrange through Sri Lanka Ecotourism Foundation or a village-focused eco-lodge — they can connect you with a working smith for demonstration (500-2000 LKR tip). Very authentic, deep skill on display. Not a set-up tourist attraction — the real thing.
