Historic Sri Lankan brass work concentrated in Kandy district (Pilimatalawa, Nattaranpotha villages). Traditional pieces: oil lamps, ceremonial vessels, water pots (kalasa), tea sets. Family workshops with 5+ generations of craftsmanship. Prices scale with size — small lamp 3000-6000 LKR, large ceremonial piece 20000+.

Watch the process at Pilimatalawa workshops — sand-casting molten brass, hand-finishing with chisels and files, polishing. Ask about the specific brass alloy (some workshops use inferior alloys — a good hand-tap gives a bell-tone if quality). Original antiques exist but rare.
