Attend if invited — deep honor. Wear WHITE (white shirt/blouse + white or light-colored trousers/skirt); NO black or dark colors. Bring a small envelope of cash 500-2000 LKR labeled with your name for the family. Present after paying respects at the coffin.

Format: 2-3 day observance. Sit quietly during pirith chanting. Small meal offered — accept a small portion. If comfortable, offer condolences to family (a hand on heart gesture is respectful). Photography strictly not appropriate. Leave when family suggests or when others do.
