Sri Lanka has 245+ butterfly species, 26 endemic. Peak diversity March-April and October-November. Best spots: Sinharaja (endemic species), Horton Plains (highland species), Bundala (wetland species), Bodhinagala Forest Reserve, and Beliatta area (butterfly migration). The Ceylon Rose, Sri Lanka Tree Nymph, and Blue Mormon are stars.

Bring: camera with macro lens (100mm ideal), butterfly guide book (Michael de Silva's Field Guide to Butterflies of Sri Lanka). Book birding/butterfly guide (many overlap). Best light: 8-11am when butterflies most active. Do NOT touch — wing scales damage.
