Camera lens fogs every Nuwara Eliya morning — rice bag trick or just wait twenty minutes?
DSLRs and a mirrorless. Cold night, warm humid dawn, front element turns milky the second I leave the guesthouse. Missed Horton light yesterday waiting for it to clear. Do hill photographers pre-warm glass, use silica packs, or just build fog time into the schedule? Not a gear-flex question — I want usable frames.

Condensation is physics, not a broken lens: cold glass meets humid hill air. Keep the camera in the bag or a sealed pouch until you reach the viewpoint, add silica gel packs overnight, and avoid blasting AC on the body before dawn walks. Some people leave the kit in a slightly warmer room corner, not against a window. When fog hits, wait — wiping wet glass can smear coatings. Build fifteen to twenty minutes of patience into sunrise plans. A rain cover helps drizzle; it does not fix fog. I am not selling a brand of silica — any dry packs in a zip bag help.
Sealed bag with silica overnight, camera stays boxed until the overlook. Fog almost gone this week.
Buying silica at the pharmacy today and leaving earlier. Will not wipe the element like a windshield again.
Same fog on train windows at dawn — patience beats frantic cloth every time.
Phone cameras fog too. Kept mine in an inner jacket pocket until the shot. Helped.
