TOURIST BEACHES (Mirissa, Unawatuna, Hiriketiya, Ahangama, Arugam Bay, Trincomalee tourist stretches) - bikinis and swim trunks completely fine on the beach and in restaurants directly on the beach. WALKING FROM BEACH TO HOTEL through a village - throw a sarong over the bikini, or a light dress. Two minutes of coverage saves everyone awkwardness. CITY (Colombo, Galle Fort, Kandy) - shorts and tank tops fine, sundresses fine, athleisure fine. Nothing overly revealing. TEMPLES and religious sites - shoulders and knees covered, no hats, remove shoes. Rural inland villages - dress modestly, err on covered.
