We do not want to go to a local tavern. Is it sold commercially in grocery stores.

No, you cannot buy traditional, fresh coconut toddy in standard commercial supermarkets like Keells or Cargills. Because fresh toddy ferments incredibly fast and spoils within a day, it cannot be bottled and shelved. Supermarkets only sell Arrack, which is the heavily distilled, hard liquor version. If you want to try authentic, mildly alcoholic toddy, you must visit a local, licensed Toddy Tavern in a coastal town early in the morning.
