No, you cannot buy traditional, fresh coconut toddy in standard commercial supermarkets like Keells or Cargills. Because fresh toddy ferments incredibly fast and spoils within a day, it cannot be bottled and shelved. Supermarkets only sell Arrack, which is the heavily distilled, hard liquor version. If you want to try authentic, mildly alcoholic toddy, you must visit a local, licensed Toddy Tavern in a coastal town early in the morning.
