Yes, renting a bicycle is absolutely the best, most popular way to explore Polonnaruwa. There are dozens of rental shops located directly outside the main ticket office and museum entrance. They cost just a few dollars for the entire day.

The entire archaeological park is incredibly flat, well shaded by massive ancient trees, and features well maintained, smooth pathways connecting all the major ruins. Cycling allows you to breeze between the Royal Palace and Gal Vihara effortlessly at your own pace.
