Everyone talks about the elephants, but is there any chance of spotting big cats there.

While there are indeed wild leopards living inside Udawalawe National Park, the chances of actually spotting one are incredibly low. The park is characterized by tall grass and dense scrub, making it very easy for the big cats to hide.

If seeing a leopard is your absolute top priority for visiting Sri Lanka, you must book your safari in Yala National Park or Wilpattu, which have the highest leopard densities in the world.

If a leopard is spotted, it is considered a very rare and incredibly lucky event. You should set your expectations strictly on seeing massive herds of elephants, water buffalo, and crocodiles.
