Row of men behind us chain-smoking. There is no wind on this kerb. Partner has asthma, inhaler already used once. Lake is 20 metres and also packed. Is there actually air anywhere on this loop or do we just abort.

Abort toward inland air, not toward the lake - the lake kerb is a wall. Perpendicular off the route, then a side street. This is a religious procession and smoking in a packed devotee line is rude, but you will not win a manners argument at 8.42. Inhaler, then walk. If it is a real attack, 081 22 33 333 / 1990 Suwa Seriya, not a forum.

Same cloud Wednesday. Two minutes inland and you can breathe. The view is not worth an A&E.

They asked people not to treat it as a carnival. A cigarette in a squeeze is that carnival. You still leave rather than lecture.
