Cinnamon Grand 3 nights - then Kandy. Train, car, or fly?
3 Answers from travellers
Fly = doesn't exist for Colombo-Kandy realistically (no scheduled commercial). Train or car. Train (Colombo Fort to Kandy) is 3-3.5 hours, scenic through paddies and small towns, book Class 1 or Observation for comfort, ~1000-2500 LKR. Car (chauffeur) is 2.5-3 hours via expressway, more expensive but door-to-door and flexible for stops. If you have luggage and it's just A-to-B, car. If you want the experience, train (send luggage separately with chauffeur if you're doing multi-day chauffeur).
Train recommendation - book seatreservation.railway.gov.lk, 1st class Observation Saloon if available (limited seats), 2nd class reserved otherwise. Right-side seats have better views. Bring water. Very Sri Lankan experience.
