We want to hike past the viewing bridge up to the very top pools of Ravana Falls. Is there a marked trail, and is it true flash floods happen without warning.

Do NOT attempt to climb the rock face of Ravana Falls. There is no official trail, and the black rocks are incredibly slippery. More importantly, yes, the catchment area in the mountains above can experience heavy rain even when it is sunny where you are standing. This causes massive, deadly flash floods to cascade down the rocks in seconds. Stay on the designated bridge.

Good choice. The police also arrest tourists caught climbing past the barrier tape.

If you want to swim in upper pools, go to Diyaluma falls instead. It has a proper, safe hiking trail to the top.

I saw a warning sign listing the names of people who have died doing exactly this. Do not risk it.

Wow, I had no idea about the flash floods. We will definitely skip climbing it.
