Coconut arrack is the absolute gold standard and the most widely consumed spirit in Sri Lanka offering a very smooth slightly sweet caramel like flavor profile that mixes perfectly with ginger beer. Kithul arrack which is distilled from the sap of the fishtail palm is significantly rarer and much harder to find commercially. It has a deeply earthy slightly more robust and pungent flavor. While both are fantastic premium aged coconut arrack is universally considered smoother and more highly refined for casual sipping.
